THREE OF MY FAVOURITE COASTAL HOTELS IN EUROPE FOR A SUMMER BREAK
With today being the first day of Summer, and the weather being completely glorious here in Edinburgh, I have been daydreaming about where I would like to be right now. Travel is still quite restricted here - we have to self isolate on returning to the UK, and other measures mean that traveling is still not really very viable at the moment - but we can dream!
I thought for today’s blog I would celebrate the start of Summer by sharing some of my favourite hotels in Europe that have made their mark on me. Some I have stayed in, others I have just visited for lunch or cocktails - either way, they all captured my heart. Join me and let’s travel!
Hotel Tresanton - St Mawes - Cornwall
Hotel Tresanton is situated in the picturesque fishing village of St Mawes in Cornwall. It is owned and run by the Polizzi family, a name that has become synonymous in the hospitality industry for elegance and excellence.
I first stayed at Hotel Tresanton back in Summer 2018 and it was heavenly. Situated on the water, each room has a sea view - a real luxury as the water is cerulean blue and very tempting. Nestled in the cliffs, the hotel is built over many levels which gives it charm - almost like being on the Amalfi Coast! There is also an excellent beach club, perfect for a summer vacation for a dash of ‘la dolce vita’ in Britain.
Hotel Du Cap-Eden-Roc - Antibes
Hotel Du Cap-Eden-Roc has become a legendary Grande Dame of the French Riviera - a home-from-home for Hollywood stars and the discerning. The main hotel, a Napoleon III château, is located on the southern tip of the Cap d'Antibes with spectacular scenery that will leave you breathless.
I first visited Hotel Du Cap back in 2016 whilst staying in nearby Cannes. It is probably the most beautiful place I have ever been and to have a long lunch on the terrace is a moment I will never forget.
Hotel Caesar Augustus - Capri - Italy
Hotel Caesar Augustus on the Italian island of Capri is a family-owned hotel that will make you feel like you are staying with good friends. This is a boutique hotel which provides a level of intimacy that is so hard to find nowadays.
I stayed here back in 2016; initially I was only supposed to be on Capri for a week, however after enjoying the island so much I decided to extend my stay for another five days and checked in to the Caesar Augustus.
Situated on the cliff edges of Anacapri, the hotel has the most spectacular views from all of its terraces and veranda’s.
