4 NEW BOOKS ON MY ‘TO BUY’ LIST FOR SUMMER
As you will know by now, books are one of my very favourite things. From a novel I can’t put down to a fascinating biography that is not only entertaining but informative, there is nothing I enjoy more than settling down to some good reading. Coffee-table books are also something I love to collect. I truly believe that these big, glossy volumes with their stunning photography, illustrations and charm have taught me a lot of what I know about good design, as well as informing my taste and how I want to live.
Today I want to share 4 coffee-table books that will inspire you for Summer and celebrate the best of the season. Let me know what you think of my recommendations.
1 ) Flowers - Charlotte Moss
Charlotte Moss is one of the most prolific designers and tastemakers in the United States. She has written ten beautiful books on the subject of interiors, gardens, and her love of entertaining. This latest offering is all about Flowers and is filled with the most stunning images of flowers in all their environments, from the garden to table settings.
2) Beachside - Hadley Keller
The planned community of Windsor, on a barrier island in Vero Beach, Florida, offers elegant yet casual seaside living at its best. This book takes us on a tour of some of the most chic homes in the area and gives an exclusive look inside the lives of its residents. Although I don’t have a beach home, it is always nice to daydream!
3) Provence Style - Shauna Varvel
Provence Style is a showcase of Shauna Varvel’s 18th century farmhouse in France. Named for the working pear orchard on the grounds, the property was reimagined by Varvel and noted local architect Alexandre Lafourcade, who transformed an outdated structure into a luxurious and contemporary expression of Provençal style. Alexandre’s mother, renowned landscaper Dominique Lafourcade, designed the extensive gardens. Featuring a selection of homes created by noted interior designers, Provence Style beautifully illustrates the textures, furnishings, fabrics, color pairings, motifs, and accents that define each area, from kitchens, living spaces, bedrooms, and bathrooms to garden terraces and courtyards.
4) The Flower Yard: Growing Flamboyant Flowers in Containers - Arthur Parkinson
Arthur Parkinson has become an Instagram sensation thanks not only to his unique and flamboyant style of gardening, but also for his endearing personality and good looks.
This is gardening done entirely in pots, yet on a grand scale that will inspire anyone who wants their doorstep or patio to be a glamorous and lively canvas that nurtures them visually and mentally. From jewel scatterings of crocus, flocks of parrot tulips and scented sweet peas to galaxies of single dahlias, towering giraffes of amaryllises grown inside for winter and endless vases of cut blooms through the seasons.
